Caofeidian Xingang Avenue QDQ06 (CAOFEIDIAN, HEBEI. CHINA)

Architectural Design Concept & Structure

The building consists of two horizontal parts piled upon each other. The first 4 floors form a base upon which a representative unit of different floor heights is put on display. The relationship of the two parts is that of a pedestal and a piece of art. they share the same structural pattern but are of different material. The base speaks the architectural language of the residential houses emphasizing unity while upper floors introduce the element of specialty and convey the image of quality, identity and ambition.

Project Introduction

Plot QDQ-06, located in Caofeidian, Hebei, measures 22,588m² of which 4,254m²are designated to public green land. The lot is situated at the intersection of Xingang lu and the subsidiary road at the heart of a residential area. The adjacent quarters are going to be developed by CEG as well. The implantation on QDQ-06 will be of mixed use and is supposed to serve as a community center to the neighborhood and as CEG representation in Caofeidian.

Masterplan & Landscape Concept

The rectangular site is well connected and accessible from all four directions. Main traffic impacts laterally from the west. The north is shielded by a green belt that continues an urban greenery system and links the lot to the nearby river in the east. South and East are residential areas. Their entrances are planned to open towards Plot QDQ-06. A small road detaches the land on these two sides from the neighborhood. Entrances, such as towards the underground parking, will branch off from that road, as it minimizes disturbance of merging into ongoing traffic.

Gongxingdunxiang Shopping Mall + Office + Residential (LANZHOU, GANSU. CHINA)

Structure  and Concept

Lanzhou is a very important city. The starting point of the program design is the "Silk Road", because the ancient Silk Road. Therefore, the design mainly includes two main concepts:

1. The concept is a shape. In the design, we use staggered layout of building block. Compared to a single block, the staggered body block can show a sense of movement. We are through the surface of the shear, push and pull, to express the idea of the shape.

2. The concept is the silk. Through the body of the building staggered, the outer surface of the building, such as the formation of half a sense of floating silk, increased the fashion sense of the building, and then become a new landmark in Lanzhou.

Project Intentions

The program needs to develop a building with different functions: shopping mall in the first floor, offices in the middle of the building and residential in the upper floors.

The location of this building is in one of the most important roads in the city: Dong gang Road.

Containers Student Housing (MADRID. SPAIN)

Structure and Concept

Project Intention

Containers are recognised as earthquake, hurricane and fire resistant. We have liaised extensively with local council to ensure our design meets and in many cases exceeds building code requirements ensuring the costumer is getting a structurally sound, watertight, warm, energy efficient home that will last for many years.

Built in features such as photovoltaic systems and rainwater harvesting not only reduce long-term running costs but ensure the costumer is doing his bit for the environment.

While shipping containers are constructed to be used again and again, many eventually fall into disuse and end up sitting around the ports in China, northern Europe and the United States.

It is reported that an estimated 17 to 20 million of these ISO containers are peppered across the globe at any given time, with as many as 1 million of them simply sitting around taking up space.

More than 50 different types of shipping containers are

available, although not all would be ideal as the

foundation of a home.

The program needs to develop an educational and cultural center. This project is developed in 5 floors: first floor, second floor, third floor, fourth floor, attic and basement used as a garage and machine rooms. It consists of multiple classrooms, workshops, computer room, gym, library, cafeteria, multipurpose room, staff room and office address as well as the necessary toilets.

TARIFA TESSELLATION. Temporary Housing for Surfers. (FONTE DA TELHA, CAPARICA'S COAST. PORTUGAL)

Structure and Concept

Project Intention

The project is realized by a geometric shape and its symmetrically repeated throughout the project thus forming the whole hostelry. These modules are ownload house the rooms. This module and its symmetrical turn and move adapting the field, on the same level. When joining modules give rise to larger configurations having the ability to bind together to form larger and more uses rooms.

Each unit has a wet area, which sometimes doubles as a bathroom and other as a kitchen. The units operate independently always harbor a bathroom, while the units are annexed to these always have a kitchen.

Being all the same modules, the construction will be done with prefabricated parts for easy assembly.

"Temporary Housing for Surfers in Fonte da Telha" with a surface strip of 900x60m2 covering a section of land type: sea, shore, beach, dune and vegetation.

The technical team had to develop a total of 100 rooms for surfers of around 30m2 with total freedom. They may intervene in any area of this strip, but always you are looking to have a ZERO ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT.

For the development of this project we acquired knowledge of these social groups, behaviors, lifestyle... so deemed appropriate that could be developed within the proposed areas of interaction; where the landscape, light, climate, cross or direct views... were a strong point in the proposal.

URBAN PLANNING

BAMBOO REMOVABLE HOUSES

HOSPEDERIA AND BAMBOO HOUSES FACTORY

Intentions & Concept

A community urban system is proposed based on the natural resources offered by this place rich in natural energy. Based in the 4 elements of nature, the houses are inspired by it and a situation of collection, treatment and consumption of natural resources; so that after consuming, energy and resources are able to be regenerated. The life cycle regenerates and a cyclic circuit is established.

Some housing are manufactured in the hostelry. In this way the houses become scavengers of natural resources offered by this place so they take it to a treatment center within the urban system to transform and adapt these resources to local needs in order to establish a cyclic system in the best way possible.

Intentions & Concept

Housing modules are proposed. It can be configured so that it can serve as common rooms. These spaces allow the possibility of a fast and simple construction in order to not generate a deep  urbanistic impact on the ground and thus be able to use the urban area permanently or temporarily for short periods of time.

The idea is that these same modules work as hostelry but being realized more personally. As the person who wants to use these pieces, they have the ability to build and ride without skilled labor, but simply monitored by a proffesional with some knowledge of the system.

Intentions & Concept

After studying the territory, the environment and the land: and having a decision of the distribution of applications and connections, they begin to treat spaces both in plan and section. Special care limits, dimensions and spaces are available; so to answer to the solution of creating a project adapted and proper to the place.

It has a very strong awareness for the territory because of its natural significance and deserves an important respect.

The preliminary study is through the housing-modules, previously thought as separate spaces for family use, so in this case hostelry. To make them broader and treat them as common rooms and common spaces that serve as toilets , living spaces and common kitchens.

Ephemeral Architecture. Skyn Crypsis: Temporary Installation in an Empty Plot. (MADRID. SPAIN)

The Previous Situation

The vacant lot is located in Fuencarral Street in Madrid, which is a major transit Hub.

This implementation could be given in almost all the vacant lots that are in the urban  fabric of the city and in optimal conditions for the installation of this proposal.

Project Intentions

The proposal seeks to find residual spaces in the city that are in disuse. From them you can find more performance and use them even temporarily.

The project is based in three parts: one dedicated to free climbing, another one dedicated to children and last but not least a support which we call "support leisure". The latter has a bar that acts as a meeting point and points where you could see the city.
